What if grief begins before the goodbye?
Most of us are taught to grieve after a loss. Almost no one teaches us how to live while the loss is still pending. That space - the waiting, the loving the fear, the meaning making is called anticipatory grief. This type of grief shows up after an Alzheimer’s, dementia, or terminal illness diagnosis. People are living here right now - caregivers, partners, friends, and family. This book was born from real life. I am co-writing it with my best friend Staci, an extraordinary person living with the stage four lung cancer.
